Reading to Your Child May Improve Their Grades

by Sharon Pollard

October 22, 2003

Children, whose parents regularly read to them, will likely earn better grades in school.  Even older, pre-adolescent children benefit from their parents reading to them.

A study of high school students indicates that nearly two-thirds of high school students (64 percent) whose parents read to them say they put forth more effort in their daily school work.  As many as half of the kids whose parents did not read to them (51 percent) say they "just got by".

Children of parents who read to them have more confidence in their abilities to make decisions about friendships, etc.

Need a way to give your child a boost in school?  READ TO THEM REGULARLY!!! The educational benefits will greatly enhance your children.
