Sixth Graders Experience Zoo Biomes

On April 20th the Auburn 6th Graders had the opportunity to attend the Henry Doorly Zoo to further their understanding of Biomes. In science the students had been studying biomes, an environment including all the life that had adapted to live in that environment, and were looking forward to the opportunity to see some of them firsthand.
At the zoo the students visited the Scott Aquarium, Lied Jungle, Kingdoms of the Night and Desert Dome displays, where they experienced tropical rainforest, desert, underwater and nocturnal biomes. At these displays students were also able to see the animals and vegetation that make these biomes their home. At each display students were to search for information about the biome and bring it back to class the next day.
The trip was a success, and as one student said, "I can't wait to go back."
