AHS Fall Play is Evening of Comedy
A company of twelve Auburn High School students is busy preparing the all-school fall play,
All in the Timing by David Ives.
Winner of the John Gassner Playwriting Award. This critically acclaimed, award-winning evening of comedies combines wit, intellect, satire and just plain fun. A hilarious sextet whether played together or separately. "Like sketches for some hilarious, celestially conceived revue. The writing is not only very funny, it has density of thought and precision of poetry. ALL IN THE TIMING is by a master of fun. David Ives spins hilarity out of words." NY Times. "Theatre that aerobicizes the brain and tickles the heart. Ives is a mordant comic who has put the play back in playwright. A wondrous wordmaster." Time Magazine.
The cast consists of: Nathan Allgood, Logan Butler, Caleb Carnahan, Alex Chubick, Devin Eitzmann, Raven Fabry, Trent Jones, Sandra Kaelin, David Kean,
Colton Shenefelt, Chris Wenzl and B. J. Wheeler. Stage Crew includes: Drew Tanner, Caleb Carnahan, Dana Mellage, Emily Boruch, Michael Wellman, Bryant Seeley, Grant Cole, Reese Whisler, and Tommy Parrish.
THE STORIES: MAN IN THE TOWER: Presents the unlikely combination of tourists and an assassin. SURE THING is a classic of contemporary comedy: Two people meet in a cafe and find their way through a conversational minefield as an offstage bell interrupts their false starts and gaffes. DMV TYRANT examines the frustration of the common man frustration with bureaucracy. WORDS, WORDS, WORDS recalls the philosophical adage that three monkeys typing into infinity will sooner or later produce Hamlet and asks: What would monkeys talk about at their typewriters? THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE brings together Dawn, a young woman with a stutter, and Don, the creator and teacher of Unamunda, a wild comic language. Their lesson sends them off into a dazzling display of verbal pyrotechnics and, of course, true love. In THE PHILADELPHIA we meet a young man in a restaurant who has fallen into "a Philadelphia," a Twilight Zone-like state. FUNERAL PARLOR explores the embarrassment of inappropriate but well-intentioned remarks at a funeral. VARIATIONS ON THE DEATH OF TROTSKY shows us the Russian revolutionary on the day of his demise, desperately trying to cope with the mountain-climber's axe he's discovered in his head.
Performances will be Thursday and Friday, November 9 and 10 in the Auburn Middle School Auditorium beginning at 7:30 PM.
Tickets will be available at the door at 7:00 PM. Adults $5.00 Students $3.00
