School District Gains New Library Program

Grades 7-12 at Auburn High School have been recently
converted to a new automated system known as Destiny. After
three days of training by the district librarians, the
system at the high school is now up and running. Library
management work will begin this summer at the elementary
schools, and it is hoped that by the beginning of the
2007-2008 school year, Destiny will be in use district-wide.
What is Destiny? It is computer software that will bring
District #29's library automation together on one server.
Because it is designed exclusively for K-12,
Destiny is easily implemented and quickly learned. The
web-based application manages library materials and allows
access through any workstation at home, at school, in the
classroom, the public library or anywhere. Students can look
up books and check them out at school the next day.
Destiny's home page will also provide web links to
important research sites.
The district’s goal was to give every classroom, every
child, and every home access to District #29's library
resources at any time. The innovative, browser-based
technology helps schools and districts achieve their goals,
reduce costs and redirect savings toward instruction.
