AHS Fall Play is Neil Simon's Rumor
by Jeff Falter
October 02, 2007
This year’s fall play for Auburn High School is the Broadway hit comedy, Rumors, by Neil Simon. One of our most successful modern playwrights, Simon is the author of such comedy classics as Barefoot in the Park, Plaza Suite, The Odd Couple, Fools, and The Sunshine Boys.
According to the International Thespian
Society, Rumors is among the most popular plays for high
school production. The plot centers around four couples who meet at
the deputy New York City major’s townhouse to celebrate his tenth
wedding anniversary. The party never begins because the host has
shot himself (only a flesh wound) and his wife is missing. The
cover-up grows progressively more difficult to sustain as more and
more guests arrive and nobody can remember who has been told
what.
The AHS production of
Rumors is directed by Jeff Falter and the members
of the cast in order of appearance are : Colton Shenefelt, Chris
Wenzl, David Kean, Sydney Anderson, Hannah Om, Logan Butler, Lauren
Fletcher, Trent Jones, B.J. Wheeler, and Alex Chubick.
Performance dates for the show are Thursday
and Friday, November 8 and 9 in the Auburn Middle School Auditorium
beginning at 7:30 PM. Tickets will be available at the door each
evening starting at 7 PM.
