There is a new face at Auburn Junior/ Senior High School this year. Mrs. Quimby is the new assistant band instructor for the 2007-08 year, and hopefully more.
Our new band instructor grew up in St. Joseph, Missouri. She is married and has three children. Her husbands name is Chris, Her eldest child, Cory, is 20, who is then followed by Matthew who’s 13. Finally, there is her number three child, Drew, who’s ten.
Mrs. Quimby didn't always wanted to be a teacher. During her growing up years, she wanted to be an archaeologist. However, her love for music won out. Her primary instruments are the flute and piccolo, but she can play other instruments as well. These skills have been helpful in her teaching career. She has taught at three other schools before coming to Auburn. She taught at Nodaway-Holt in Missouri for five years, Craig, Missouri for one semester, and Nebraska City McCartney Country School for four years.
Mrs. Quimby says she like teaching at Auburn so far. She has been
working with individuals on music parts and memorization. According
to Mrs. Quimby, her goals for this year are, “To assist Mr. Konrad
in helping the band to be the best is can be musically. To have fun
and be successful as a teacher and mentor.”
Mrs. Quimby has many hobbies, but her favorites are scrap booking,
playing in the Southeast Nebraska Community Band, and watching
movies. Her favorite past time is watching American Idol and
going to the Idol Concert with her children. She adds, “It’s
the bomb!” Her favorite food is a filet mignon and baked potato,
and her favorite desert is a banana meringue pie. Mrs. Quimby
drives an Oldsmobile Silhouette Van. Her favorite movie is The
Patriot, her favorite actor is Matthew McConaughey, and actress is
Sandra Bullock. Her favorite color is green.
That is the lowdown on the new band assistant Mrs. Quimby.
