Selective Service Registration is required by law. Males 18 years of age
must register. You may now register online at: www.sss.gov. This is
required to be eligible for any state or federal financial aid.
You may register online for both tests:
ACT www.actstudent.org or SATwww.collegeboard.com. After the
deadline, a late fee is charged.
ACT TEST DATE: Dec. 8, 2007 DEADLINE: Nov. 3, 2007
SAT TEST DATE: Dec. 1, 2007 DEADLINE: Oct. 30, 2007
Education Quest Financial Aid Night is coming soon on
Tuesday, November 6, 2007. Seniors please remind your
parents to come to the media center at 6:30 PM.
They will learn all about filling out the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Please sign up for college/ business visitations in
the guidance office.

Peru State College encourages you to visit their campus. Visits
are available Monday to Thursday 10:00 AM & 12:00 PM
and Friday at 10:00 AM only. To schedule a visit call the

Dana College Scholarship Days : To be eligible for this
event, you must have a GPA of at least 3.50 and an ACT
of at least 25. Scholarships are available for academics,
chorale, theater and instrumental music. Complete the
Dana application at
www.dana.edu/admission_application/admission_application.html
and tell the guidance office to have your transcript mailed
with the ACT or SAT scores on the back. This is a great c
hance for you and your parents to be introduced to life at Dana College.
Buena Vista University invites you join them at the Durham
Western Heritage Museum Nov. 15 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Midland Lutheran College offers excellent scholarships to
students who have excelled in academics as well as those
who have participated in co-curricular activities. For
either you must first apply for admissions to Midland.
Some scholarships have a December 21st deadline.
Come to the guidance office for any details.
Wayne State College, Peru State College and Chadron State
College all provide the Board of Trustees’ Full-Tuition
Scholarship worth more than $13,200 in four years!!!

The deadline is January 15, 2008.
Iowa Western Community College will be holding their
Ag & Transportation Day featuring Veterinary, Agribusiness,
Diesel and Automotive Technology as well as Turf &
Landscape Management programs. The date is
Wednesday, Nov. 7 and the deadline is Mon., Oct. 29th.
Applications are in the guidance office.
Peter Kiewit Institute/ University of Nebraska Open House
in the fall is Sunday, Oct. 28 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
There will be another open house on February 23).

National Commission for Cooperative Education is
the largest independently sponsored merit co-op
scholarship in the U.S. You must apply and be
accepted at one of ten colleges—a list of schools can
be found at www.co-op.edu or in the brochure that is
in the guidance office. The deadline is February 15, 2007.
Peru State College’s Athletic Recruitment Day is Nov. 3, 2007.
There will be tours, a time to meet coaches and student athletes,
to learn about academics, attend a football game and have lunch
on them! You need to RSVP by Oct. 26 at www.peru.edu/admissions.
Visit the University of South Dakota from now until April on
designatedFridays and Saturdays. See the list of dates
in the guidance office and pick a registration card.
College of Saint Mary has three great events coming up
Nov. 16, February 2 and March 8. If you are interested
in this school, please see the guidance office or visit them online
at www.CSM.edu for details.
NWMSU will hold Computing Visit Day on Sat., Nov. 10
from 8:30 to 12:30 in Colden Hall. You may register
online at www.nwmissouri.edu/dept/csis/visitday.
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Peter Kiewit Foundations awards scholarship for high
school seniors who will graduate from a state approved
Nebraska high school by June, 2008. Students must be
from Nebraska and rank in the top 20% of their class.
Students must be able to demonstrate financial need.
Be aware that applications may be submitted as soon
as possible. Applications are in the guidance office.
The postmark deadline for the first stage of the
process is Wed., Jan. 9, 2008.
Gus Swanson Memorial Communications Scholarship is offered to
seniors planning to enroll in a Nebraska college or university and
pursue a degree in one of the following:
Advertising, Marketing, Mass Communications,
Communication Studies, Public Relations, Journalism,
Graphic Design or Desktop Publishing. You may print
an application from their web site at www.sramarketing,com.
Need A Lift? Look at the 152 page book, provided by the
American Legion. It lists scholarships, grants, and loans for
students and also contains extensive information on
scholarships for veteran’s dependents. This book is
available on the web at: www.needalift.org. There is
also a copy in the guidance office.
