AHS band places 3rd at Harvest of Harmony
November 02, 2007
On October 6th the Auburn High School band participated in a competition in Grand Island called Harvest of Harmony. The band left at 5 o'clock in the morning and began marching at 9:45 AM. There were some challenges along the way. More time was needed to prepare, but there was a great improvement from last year. Last year the band received 10th place in the parade marching, but this year the band received 3rd place out of the 16 Class B bands. The band also participated in a field show competition while they were at Harvest of Harmony. The band performed their Broadway show which included “Phantom of the Opera”, “Born to Hand Jive”, and “All That Jazz.” Auburn received an excellent for their performance in the field show competition. They obtained nine more points than their performance from last year. Mr. Konrad was very proud of the band's performance. He believed that they raised the bar and was very thankful that they acted professionally throughout the day. After the competition the band had a little bit of down time. David Wheeler commented that his favorite part of the trip was “the 18 inches of Subway I ate!” With marching band season coming to an end, the band is starting the concert band season. Mr. Konrad is excited to raise the bar for concert band as he did for marching band. Jace Wissler said, “I love concert band!” All of the excitement will get the band geared towards their next performance. The next band concert in the Spaghetti Feed on November 6th, and they are also preparing for their Christmas concert in the middle of December. Congratulations to the following people who made the Doane College Honor Band: Congrats to Elizabeth Billesbach, Lauren Fletcher, and Sarah Volkmer for making All-State Orchestra and Band.
