AMS Recognized as a Blue Ribbon School

November 13, 2007

U.S. Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings, announced the 2007 No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon Schools on October 2. Auburn Middle School was named as one of 276 Blue Ribbon schools. Two schools from Nebraska were selected for the 2007 honor.

The No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement. The Blue Ribbon Award is the highest award bestowed to K-12 public and private schools by the U.S. Department of Education.

The ceremony will be held in Washington, DC, on November 12-13. AMS principal, Sharon Pollard, and Title I teacher, Wendy Engles, will attend the ceremony, where the schools will receive a plaque and a flag signifying their NCLB-Blue Ribbon School status. A local celebration to honor Auburn Middle School teachers and student will be held on November 16 at 2:30 p.m. The public is invited.
