The Board of Education of School District #29 of Nemaha County met on October 15, 2007 at Peru City Hall for the purpose of conducting the regular board meeting.    Notice of the meeting was duly published in the Auburn Newspapers.

 

President Mike Zaruba called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  President Zaruba pointed out the Open Meetings Law poster on display.  Roll call of members present were: Hemmingsen, Zaruba, Obermeyer, Billesbach, Oestmann and Kernes Krause.

 

Motion by Kernes Krause and second by Obermeyer to approve the consent agenda which includes the minutes of the 9-17-07 regular meeting and minutes of the 9-13-07 Board  workshop.  Roll call vote: Zaruba (yes), Obermeyer (yes), Billesbach (yes), Oestmann (yes), Kernes Krause (yes) and Hemmingsen (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Visitors included: Laura Osborne, Susan Kruse, Marcia Reeves, Janet Hawley, Bob Engles and Tony Johnson.

 

Motion by Kernes Krause and second by Oestmann that the Board approve the monthly claims in all funds as presented.  Roll call vote: Obermeyer (yes), Billesbach (yes),Oestmann (yes), Kernes Krause (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Zaruba (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Kernes Krause and second by Oestmann that the Board approve the financial reports as presented.   Roll call vote: Billesbach (yes), Oestmann (yes), Kernes Krause (yes), Hemmingsen (yes), Zaruba (yes) and Obermeyer (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Kernes Krause and second by Billesbach approve the Interlocal Agreement for E Rate as presented.  Roll  call vote:  Oestmann (yes), Kernes Krause (yes), Hemmingsen (yes), Zaruba (yes), Obermeyer (yes), and Billesbach (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Hemmingsen and second by Obermeyer that the Board approve listing the Locust Grove property with American Dream Realty at 5% for 90 days at a price of $49,950.  Roll call vote:  Kernes Krause (yes), Hemmingsen (yes), Zaruba (yes), Obermeyer (yes), Billesbach (yes), and Oestmann (yes). Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Obermeyer and second by Kernes Krause that Barb Billesbach be appointed as a voting member of NASB’s Delegate Assembly.  Roll call vote: Hemmingsen (yes), Zaruba (yes), Obermeyer (yes), Billesbach (yes), Oestmann (yes), and Kernes Krause (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Obermeyer and second by Kernes Krause that the Board approve the Proclamation on Red Ribbon Week as presented.  Roll call vote:  Obermeyer (yes), Billesbach (yes), Oestmann (yes), Kernes Krause (yes), Hemmingsen (yes) and Zaruba (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Obermeyer and second by Kernes Krause that the Board approve the Proclamation on American Education Week as presented.  Roll call vote:  Billesbach (yes), Oestmann (yes), Kernes Krause (yes), Hemmingsen (yes), Zaruba (yes) and Obermeyer (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Billesbach and second by Oestmann that the Board approve the amendments to Policy 3324 - Procedures – Bidding Construction Projects as presented.  Roll call vote:  Oestmann (yes), Kernes Krause (yes), Hemmingsen (yes), Zaruba (yes) Obermeyer (yes) and Billesbach (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Billesbach and second by Oestmann that the Board approve Policy 3560 - Records Management & Disposition as presented.  Roll call vote:  Kernes Krause (yes), Hemmingsen (yes), Zaruba (yes), Obermeyer (yes), Billesbach (yes) and Oestmann (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Billesbach and second by Kernes Krause that the Board approve Policy 3570 - No Child Left Behind as presented.  Roll call vote:  Hemmingsen (yes), Zaruba (yes), Obermeyer (yes), Billesbach (yes), Oestmann (yes) and Kernes Krause (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Billesbach and second by Kernes Krause that the Board approve Policy 3700 - Trespassers as presented.  Roll call vote:  Zaruba (yes), Obermeyer (yes), Billesbach (yes), Oestmann (yes), Kernes Krause (yes) and Hemmingsen (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Billesbach and second by Oestmann that the Board approve Policy 4800 - Social Security Numbers as presented.  Roll call vote:  Obermeyer (yes), Billesbach (yes), Oestmann (yes), Kernes Kruase (yes), Hemmingsen (yes), Zaruba (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Billesbach and second by Kernes Krause that the Board approve Policy 5111.3 – Homeless Students as presented.  Roll call vote:  Billesbach (yes), Oestmann (yes), Kernes Krause (yes), Hemmingsen (yes), Zaruba (yes) and Obermeyer (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.

 

Motion by Billesbach and second by Kernes Krause that the Board approve amending Policy 4243.2 – Vacations as presented.  Roll call vote:  Oestmann (yes), Kernes Krause (yes), Hemmingen (yes), Zaruba (yes), Obermeyer (yes) and Billesbach (yes).  Motion carried 6-0.        

 

The written administrative reports were addressed. Thank you notes and upcoming meetings were noted. The next regular board meeting will be at the Brownville Town Hall on November 19, 2007.

 

President Mike Zaruba adjourned the meeting at 7:40 p.m.

 

The next regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education will be held on November 19, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. Brownville Town Hall, 309 Water St.,

Brownville, NE.   The agenda for the regular school board meeting shall be kept continuously current and shall be readily available for public inspection at the superintendent’s office during normal business hours.  All items on the board agenda are subject to discussion and/or board action.  The board may enter closed session regarding any item on the agenda, which is permitted by Nebraska Statute.
