Selective Service Registration is required by law. Males 18 years of age must register. You may now register online at: www.sss.gov. This is required to be eligible for any state or federal financial aid.
ACT and SAT Registration Information: After the deadline, a late fee is charged. You may now register online for both tests:

High School visitations
The following schools/organizations will be visiting Auburn High School: Northwest Missouri State, November26th, Baker University November 29th, U.S. Airforce, November29th. National Guard, November 30th.
Scholarships
Peru State College awards a Cooperating School Scholarship that pays half of on campus tuition up to 16 hours per term and maximum 128 hours over a four-year period. Qualifications are to be in the top half of your graduating class, active in your class and show leadership qualities, seriously considering attending Peru State, planning to maintain a 2.0 at PSC (which is necessary to retain the scholarship). Directions for the application are in the guidance office. Deadline for submitting is Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.
University of South Dakota offers the Al Neuharth Scholarship for Excellence in Journalism. If you are interested in the field of Journalism, please see the guidance office to pick up an application.
The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation Scholarship is for seniors planning to attend a college, university, community or technical school that is part of the Nebraska state public college system. That includes 13 Nebraska colleges. There is an application form with details in the guidance office. You may also check it out at www.buffettscholarships.org.
Wayne State College has an Academic Excellence Scholarship that is a full-tuition award! If you are interested in attending Wayne State, please let the guidance office know. The deadline for admission (in order to be considered for this award) is Dec. 1, 2007
If you have interests in the Water Resources field, please come to the guidance office for a scholarship application. The scholarship is worth $250.00 and the deadline is March 31, 2008.
State of Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs offers two programs that assist with the cost of tuition. They can be used alone or in a combination with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Education Programs. There is a Waiver of Tuition Program and a Reservist Credit Program. There are 13 approved Nebraska colleges involved. Please see the guidance office for further details and/or applications.
Nebraska Machinery Company has opportunities to attend Central Community College (in Hastings) for students wishing to become heavy equipment and agricultural diesel technicians. There are details and applications in the guidance office.
NWMSU freshmen in 2008 and will be majoring in accounting are eligible for two scholarships each worth $450.00. The Charles Hawkins Scholarship and the Karen Hawkins Memorial Scholarship have deadlines of Feb. 1, 2008. Application forms are in the guidance office.
Union Bank and Nelnet offer scholarships that are online at www.asapubt.com They also have an application for you to “Enter To Win” up to $25,000 a year for college! Please see the details and form in the guidance office.
University of Kansas offers scholarships and audition dates for piano, organ, voice, dance, band & orchestra instruments and jazz rhythm section. Ask in the guidance office for details.
McKelvey Foundation Entrepreneurial Scholarship award is available to high school seniors who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit. Qualifications are in the guidance office. The deadline is January 15, 2008.
Regis University in Denver Colorado invites you to apply for their science scholarships. Students must register and complete the qualifying examinations. Call 800-388-2366 ext. 4900 or email: regisadm@regis.edu to register for the February 1-2nd or February 8-9th examination dates.
Special Programs Days and Applications:
UNL Diversity Enhancement Workshop: During this day senior students of color will receive tips on writing scholarship essays. Please request a registration form from the guidance office. Workshop dates are Dec. 7 and Jan. 11.
Iowa Western Community College wants to remind you of their program days and the great opportunities on their campus. Please visit them on their web site: www.iwcc.edu.
The Common Application is a not-for-profit organization that serves students and member institutions by providing an undergraduate admission application – online and in print -- that students may submit to any of their 300 members. The instructions and booklet are in the guidance office.
2nd Annual Women’s College Fair at St. Mary’s College will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008, in Mercy Hall on campus. You may register online at www.csm.edu. Participation is limited, so submit your registration as soon as possible.
University of Nebraska Fire Protection Technology program has a three-year course rotation available. If you are interested, there are details online at extended.unl.edu/fire. There is information in the guidance office.
