Selective Service Registration is required by law. Males 18 years of age must register. You may now register online at: www.sss.gov. This is required to be eligible for any state or federal financial aid.
ACT and SAT Registration Information: After the deadline, a late fee is charged. You may now register online for both tests:

Education Quest’s 9th Annual Countdown to College

FAFSA Information
For 2008-09 paper FAFSAs will not be available in bulk for counselors. Students will need to order their own copies of the paper FAFSA by calling 1-800-433-3243. Also a new PDF of the form will be available to download from www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov. Students are encouraged to use the online method for filing the application.
Scholarships
Peru State College awards a Cooperating School Scholarship that pays half of on campus tuition up to 16 hours per term and maximum 128 hours over a four-year period. Qualifications are ranking in the top half of your graduating class, active in your class, leadership qualities. Student should be seriously considering attending Peru State and planning to maintain a 2.0 at PSC (which is necessary to retain the scholarship). Directions for the application are in the guidance office. Deadline for submitting is Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.
UNL reminds you students must submit all admission application materials by January 15, 2008 to be eligible for freshman scholarships.
U.S. Navy NROTC Scholarship
This is a four-year full tuition scholarship. I
The student will also receive a monthly stipend.
Degree plans are not restricted. Qualifying requirements are ACT/SAT scores of 21 Math and 22 English or 530 Verbal and 520 Math. Application deadline is Jan. 15,2008. You may get detailed information at www.nrotc.navy.mil/ or call Senior Chief Mike Skinner at 715 234-7318.
UNO offers the Regents, Chancellor’s, and Distinguished Scholarships to incoming freshman. An addition application is needed for the UNO Alumni Association Scholarship. You must submit an application for undergraduate admission by February 1st to be considered. Information about qualifying scores for these scholarships is available in the guidance office.

Alpha Gamma Nu Fraternity at UNL offers a $500 scholarship to freshmen males. The deadline is May 31, 2008. Application forms are in the guidance office.
The National Commission for Cooperative Education offers 185 scholarships of $6000 each to students attending NCCE Partner Colleges and Universities. Find out more information by reviewing the “Best of CO-OP” booklet on the shelf in the guidance office.
Toyota Community Scholars offers 100 renewable scholarships to seniors who enroll at a four-year college or university. Auburn High school can send in one application from our school. Academic performance, and the student’s contribution in the area of community service are prime factors in the selection. If you are interested in applying please pick up the application from Mrs. Bucy or Mrs. Jones. You must return your application to the guidance office by Dec. 19th .
Nebraska City Apple Corps Barbershop Chorus is offering two $250 scholarships to graduating seniors who have participated in vocal music or band all four years of high school. Applications are available in the guidance office. The Deadline fis February 8, 2008.
College of Saint Mary’s in Omaha invites you to attend their scholarship competition day on Saturday, February 2, 2008. You may RSVP at www.csm.edu.
State of Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs offers two programs that assist with the cost of tuition. They can be used alone or in a combination with U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Education Programs. There is a Waiver of Tuition Program and a Reservist Credit Program. There are 13 approved Nebraska colleges involved. Please see the guidance office for further details and/or applications.
