Local Scholarship Student Packet

Local scholarship descriptions and application instructions

by Kathy Bucy

February 13, 2008

Seniors,

Please use the following information as a guide in preparing your letter(s) of application:
1. You must have one letter and resume/data sheet for each scholarship application. You may
write one letter, but you must individually address each letter. You may
NOT use "To Whom It May Concern" for your salutation. You must sign each
letter individually (do not sign original and make copies).
2. Use the front page of this packet and circle the number beside the scholarship(s)
to which you are applying. Put your letters and data sheets in order using the
list of scholarships as a guide.
3. Read the information on each scholarship in this packet in detail and see that your read and understand what each scholarship requires for application.
4. Staple pages together for each scholarship
application. All applications should be stapled in the following order: Letter,
Data Sheet, additional forms or essays, letters of recommendation.
5. For your convenience, please run an extra set of your letter and data sheet so
that we can keep one on file. These are sometimes used at a later date, and it will
be easier for you than rewriting a new set. This one may be addressed to "To
Whom It May Concern".
6. All of the information requested by the scholarship committee MUST be turned
in by the deadline date. Late applications will not be accepted for consideration.
If you run into a situation where a letter of recommendation may be late, you
should talk to the guidance counselor. The application will be accepted only
if all of the other information was turned in on time.

Topics to include in your letter(s) of application:
1. Give an introduction of self include your life goals?
2. Tell about your future educational plans, include possible school(s), and major(s).
