The Headlong Dance Theater Performs at AHS
February 25, 2008
Auburn High School was honored to have the Headlong Dance Theater perform on Monday morning. The Headlong Dance theater is known worldwide for their witty take on contemporary culture. Rather than relying on a single dance style or technique, Headlong develops a unique movement vocabulary for each new piece.
Headlong Dance Theater has been choreographing and performing together in Philadelphia since 1993. Their work is known for being both accessible and sophisticated. Headlong mixes formalism, pop culture, and all-out physicality to create vibrant, hilarious dance theater that resonates far beyond the traditional dance audience.
The final dance of the performance was based on the life of AHS Principal, Kevin Reiman. Principal Reiman was asked a series of questions. The Dance Theater then created a dance based on his responses. Following this dance the troupe spent time answering questions from the students.
Auburn High School would like to thank The Headlong Dance Theater for performing at Auburn High School. We would like to thank The Brownville Concert Series and the Mid America Arts Alliance for sponsoring this event for our students.
