Keep this newsletter because each printing contains new scholarship opportunities.  You may also check it out on the web site: www.auburnpublicschools.org.

Selective Service Registration is required by law. Males 18 years of age must register. You may now register online at: www.sss.gov.  This is required to be eligible for any state or federal financial aid.

ACT and SAT Registration Information: After the deadline, a late fee is charged. You may now register online for both tests:

ACT www.actstudent.org or SATwww.collegeboard.com.

ACT    TEST DATE: April 12, 2008 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: March 7, 2008

SAT    TEST DATE: May 3,2008 REGISTRATION DEADLINE: April 1, 2008

 

FAFSA Information

For 2008-09 paper FAFSAs will not be available in bulk for counselors.  Students will need to order their own copies of the paper FAFSA by calling 1-800-433-3243. Also a new PDF of the form will be available to download from www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov.  Students are encouraged to use the online method for filing the application.

 

Scholarships

 

The Nemaha Valley Masonic Lodge scholarship has been increased from $300 to $400.

The Lincoln Community Foundation is pleased to announce that they have a scholarship for students who live outside of Lancaster County.  Check out the website at www.lcf.org.

 

The Nebraska Press Association Foundation offers a $2000 scholarship for graduating seniors who plan to study journalism at a Nebraska-based college or University. Applications are available in the guidance office.  The deadline is March 7, 2008.

 

Nebraskans for Peace offer three $500 scholarships.  Applications are available on line at www.nebraskansforpeace.org.  More information is available in the guidance office.

 

Salvation Army 2008 D.J.’s Scholarship $5000 awards are for outstanding leaders. Applications are available in the guidance office.

 

The Virginia and Tom Pierce Memorial Scholarship is a $500 scholarship for a graduating senior that has a permanent physical disability or a student who has a parent with a permanent physical disability. Applications are in the guidance office.  Deadline is April 1, 2008.

Janice M. Scott Memorial scholarship is a $2500 scholarship.  Applications are in the guidance office. The deadline is March 15, 2008.

Special Programs Days and Applications:

 

Greek Preview at UNL is Sunday March 9, 2008. The $10 registration includes a UNL Greek T-shirt!!   Register at admissions.unl.edu/greekpreview

 

Bryan LGH College of Health Sciences invites students and their families to attend their spring Exploration Day on Saturday, March 19th at 9:30 am.  Please call 402-481-8697 to register.

 

Nebraska Wesleyan University will hold Prairie Wolf Days on Friday, March 7, Saturday Match 8, and Saturday, March 29. Go online to www.FindOutNWU.com to register. 

 

Iowa Western Community College will present a “Kickoff Your Career!” day on Thursday, March 13, 2008. Information on may careers will be presented.  A list is available in the guidance office along with registration materials.  You must have your own transportation to this event.

 

Iowa Western has a Communications Day on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 to explore career opportunities in Communications.  Registration forms are available in the guidance office.  

 

C-Tec invites graduating seniors to apply for work with their company doing concrete construction labor.  Starting wage is $9.50.  Call 402-362-5951 or email ctec@ctecconcrete.com to set up a phone interview.
