Auburn Board of Public Works employees shared their expertise with Calvert Elementary fourth and fifth students through various activities and demonstrations about electrical safety. Students were divided into small groups and rotated through various educational learning stations about electricity. Students were provided a tour of the power plant to see how the machines produce electricity. In other stations, students learned how the line crewsmen repair and fix electrical problems. And in another portion of the visit, a guest speaker spoke to the students about the different forms of energy such as radiant, light, sound, mechanical and nuclear. Fifth grade science teacher, Kellen Conroy was very impressed with various activities and demonstrations, as they related very well to the concepts and lessons taught in the fifth grade science curriculum about electricity.
Each student received a special electrical safety information bag.
