National Honor Society host blood drive

November 02, 2007

The Auburn High School Blood Drive will be held on November 9th in the Media Center from 9:00-3:00. The requirements for giving blood are you have to weigh more than 110 pounds, not have a new tattoo within a year, a parent permission slip, and you have to be at least 16 years-old.

Mrs. Hamann is once again in charge of it along with the National Honor Society officers. Dariane Kimball oversees the whole thing, Alexis Comstock is in charge the food, Jake Oshlo is in charge hanging signs, and Emily Parrish is in charge of registration. Mrs. Hamann said this year’s goal is to get 55 donors. Last year they had 50 people that gave blood and totaled 44 units. After you give blood you have to sit down for 15 minutes. You get to eat cookies and drink orange juice. Rhae Werner, Mrs. Hamann, and her officers are in charge of setting up and taking it down.

“The Blood Drive is a great way to help other whose lives are in need of saving. It is also a great way to gain valuable community service. I strongly encourage anyone of required age and in proper health to give “the gift of life”.
