Lynn Dierberger

Meet the Special Education Central Office Staff

Lynn Dierberger, Special Education Coordinator and School Psychologist, is a long-time resident of Auburn. Lynn, a graduate of Auburn Public Schools, received her Bachelors and Masters degrees at Peru State College in elementary education with endorsements in special education. Lynn went on to earn her Educational Specialist’s degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. She has been part of the District 29 staff for over twenty years, first as a resource teacher and fifth grade teacher, and currently as the Special Education Coordinator and School Psychologist. Lynn also serves as coordinator for the district’s High Ability Learner and Response to Intervention programs.

As the Special Education Coordinator, Lynn works closely with teachers and the district’s speech, occupational and physical therapists to correlate services for special needs children ages birth to twenty one. As the school psychologist, she evaluates the academic and social-emotional needs of children, and works with parents and school staff to identify interventions and plan programs appropriate to student needs.

Of her role within the Auburn school system Lynn says, “I love working with the children of District 29 and enjoy the opportunities I have to support student learning. It is my job and pleasure to work with the school administrators, counselors, teachers, therapists, parents, and students.”

Cathy Krieger

Assisting Lynn in the Special Education office is Cathy Krieger. Cathy and her family moved to Auburn in 1995 when her husband, Kevin, retired from the Air Force. She has been with District 29 for five years. As Office Manager, Cathy handles day-to-day administrative duties such as answering the telephone, maintaining files, supporting teacher needs, updating information on the web-based Student Record System, and developing forms for teacher and therapist use. Cathy is also responsible for compiling information for the High Ability Learner program, tracking the special education budget, researching and organizing information for various reports required by the Nebraska Department of Education, and maintaining the special education portion of the school web page.
