Dear Families,
On Wednesday, March 18, 2020, Auburn Public Schools initiated a closure to help limit the spread of COVID-19 across the community. At this time, the closure is set to run through Wednesday, April 1>span class="s3">st, 2020 with school resuming on Thursday, April 2nd, 2020.
As we strive to continue learning opportunities for our students during the closure, teachers have thoughtfully put together packets of resources for all students, PK-12. Student learning packets are grade-specific and include both lessons and extension activities for approximately two weeks. Packets focus on core subject areas such as math, science, ELA, and social studies, and may also include material from non-core classes. All lessons and activities are designed to keep students engaged in learning throughout the closure, but will not be graded. We strongly encourage students to work through their packets and return them to their teachers. Packets can be picked up at the Calvert front office and the first-floor office of the Middle/High School on Monday, March 23rd, 2020, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Report Cards will be distributed at this time as well. Please note some teachers have already sent packets home with students. If you are unable to pick up a packet for your child, it will be mailed to you as well as the report card.
If you have questions specific to your student’s classroom, please contact that teacher directly by email as they will be available to respond during the week between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Given the circumstances, please understand that teachers may not be available to respond immediately, but will reply within a timely manner.
APS District leaders will be working closely with the Board of Education and Southeast District Health Department (SEDHD) as well as public officials to assess the latest health information and determine the most appropriate next steps for our district. In the event of an extended school closure due to health concerns, learning opportunities will remain a priority and we will work to ensure that our students have opportunities to stay engaged throughout the closure.
