COVID Letter to Parents

Dear APS families,

Thank you for all your support and cooperation during this unprecedented and challenging period of time. We recognize this period of adjustment has been difficult for families and we will continue to do whatever we can to support you.

As you know, we now have a confirmed case of COVID-19 in Nemaha County. This means there is a high probability that our schools will be closed for the remainder of the school year.  For now, we are considering schools closed indefinitely. Closing school for a longer period of time brings up many questions of which we will do our best to address. We will continue to update our parents as we become aware of new information from the Governor, Nebraska Department of Education, and the Southeast District Health Department.

The safety of our children and staff is our top priority. For now, prom, graduation, and other important events are being postponed. When it is safe to reschedule these milestone events we will make every attempt to do so. We want our 2020 seniors to have these memorable experiences.

Auburn Public Schools teachers and administration will continue to reach out to families and be responsive to emails and phone calls during regular school hours. As a reminder, a school closure means no practices, on-campus gatherings, events, and gym or weight room use.

Packets will still be available for pickup on Monday, March 23, 2020.  In the event the school closes indefinitely, arrangements will be made for students to clean out lockers and pick up items from their classrooms.

During this time of uncertainty, we want to encourage everyone to remain positive and to continue to work together. Together we will weather this storm and come out stronger as a district and community.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
